Former Rio assistant gets new gig

Rio Grande --- Rio Grande's loss is Jackson's gain. Former Rio Grande men's assistant basketball coach Heath McKinniss has accepted the head basketball coaching position at Jackson High School, replacing the legendary Larry Jordan.

Rio's Rase earns NAIA Scholar-Athlete award

Kansas City, Mo. --- The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced that 67 Division I men's basketball players have been named 2009-10 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. Among them was University of Rio Grande senior shooting guard P. J. Rase.

Season ends for RedStorm men

Frankfort, Ky. --- The 2009-10 basketball season came to an end for the University of Rio Grande RedStorm men's team on Friday morning in the quarterfinal round of the Mid-South Conference Tournament. Rio, the No. 8 seed, lost 93-77 to top-seeded and NAIA No. 7 Campbellsville, the MSC regular season champion.
