    GULF SHORES, Ala. – University of Rio Grande sophomore Tyanna Petty is tied for second place after four of seven events in the women's heptathlon at the 36th Annual NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium.
    Petty, a native of Somerset, Ohio, has 2,903 points and is tied with Kristan Holding of Westmont (Calif.) after Thursday's opening day of competition.
    Petty and Holding are 103 points behind event leader Becky Collier of Westmont (Calif.) with the long jump, javelin throw and 800-meter run still to complete the competition on Friday beginning at 11:30 a.m. EDT.
    The top eight finishers will earn All-American status.
    Petty was second in the high jump (1.67m), fourth in both the 100-meter hurdles (15.12) and 200-meter dash (26.00) and 14th in the shot put (8.97m).

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A quartet of student-athletes representing the University of Rio Grande will be among those taking part in the 36th annual Women's National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, which get underway Thursday and continue through Saturday at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores, Ala.
    Sophomore Tyanna Petty (Somerset, OH) headlines the RedStorm's foursome in the heptathlon, while senior Carrie Coriell (Lucasville, OH) will participate in both the shot put and hammer throw and the duo of sophomore Katie Browning (Athens, OH) and junior Niki Worsham (Beavercreek, OH) participating in the pole vault and 5,000-meter race walk, respectively.

    HILLSDALE, Mich. - Tyanna Petty had a career-best showing in the heptathlon, while Maddie Rigsby has a pair of top 10 finishes to spark the University of Rio Grande women's track and field team at Wednesday's Hillsdale Classic hosted by Hillsdale College.
    Petty, a sophomore from Somerset, Ohio, piled up 4,441 points after finishing first in the 800-meter run, second in the high jump, third in the javelin throw, fourth in the 200-meter dash, fifth in both the 100-meter hurdles and long jump and seventh in the shot put.
    Petty has met the "A" standard in the decathlon and ranks ninth nationally.

    ATHENS, Ohio - Maddie Rigsby had a first-place and a runner-up finish, while Katie Browning had a top finish of her own to lead the University of Rio Grande women's track and field team at Friday's Ohio Open hosted by Ohio University.
    Rigsby, a sophomore from Tuppers Plains, Ohio, took first place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.77 and was second in the high jump after clearing 1.55m.
    Browning, a sophomore from Athens, Ohio, was first in the pole vault with an effort of 3.41m.

    RIO GRANDE, Ohio - Despite battling rainy conditions throughout the day, the University of Rio Grande women's track and field team captured a second straight Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship on Saturday at the Stockmeister Track & Field Complex.
    The RedStorm compiled 287 points as a team, easily outdistancing runner-up Point Park University (138 pts.) and third-place finisher Indiana University-East (40 pts.).
    Sophomore Tyanna Petty (Somerset, OH) dominated the day individually with top finishes in the 100-meter dash (12.74), 200-meter dash (26.07), 100-meter Hurdles (15.28), High Jump (1.60m) and Long Jump (5.16m). She was also part of Rio's first-place 4x400 Relay team (4:09.18) - which also included sophomores Keri Lawrence (Pomeroy, OH), Maddie Rigsby (Tuppers Plains, OH) and Emili Sannes (Carlisle, OH) - and finished the day with 50-1/2 points for Most Valuable Performer honors.

    FLORENCE, Ky. - University of Rio Grande thrower Carrie Corriell is the KIAC Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for the fourth time this season after winning the award again for April 18-25.
    The most-recent honor for the senior from Lucasville, Ohio, comes after placing first in the discus and hammer throw at the Wilmington College Night Moves Invitational.
