    MERCERVILLE, Ohio - University of Rio Grande director of cross country/track & field Steve Gruenberg has announced the signing of South Gallia High School senior Alexis Johnson for the 2015-2016 school year.
    Johnson, a 5-foot-6 thrower, is the school record-holder in both the shot put and discus. She was also a member of the Tri-Valley Conference All-Academic Team.
    "I'm excited to grow as an athlete and a student at the University of Rio Grande. I consider it a great honor," Johnson said. "I've hoped to become a collegiate athlete since my freshman year."

    BEXLEY, Ohio - Two of the newest members of the University of Rio Grande track and field team wasted no time in making a name for themselves.
    Freshman Katie Browning set a new school record for the women's indoor pole vault, while fellow frosh Jordon Cummings earned a spot in the NAIA Indoor Nationals with his effort in the men's high jump at the Purple and White Invite, last Saturday, at Capital University's Capital Center.

    GALLIPOLIS, Ohio - University of Rio Grande director of track & field/cross country Steve Gruenberg recently announced the addition of Ohio Christian University transfer Breanna West to the program's roster for the 2014-15 school year.
    West, a 5-foot-4 sprinter/jumper, is a graduate of Gallia Academy High School, where she was a four-year All-Southeast District honoree for head coach Todd May's Blue Devils.
    West, who participated in the 100- and 200-meter dashes, as well as the high jump and long jump, also was a regional meet qualifer, an All-Southeast Ohio Athletic League selection and a four-time Academic All-SEOAL honoree. Her top time in the 100 of 14.32 came during her junior year at GAHS, while her personal-best of 29.08 in the 200 came during her freshman year.

    THE PLAINS, Ohio - University of Rio Grande director of track & field/cross country Steve Gruenberg recently announced the signing of Athens High School graduate Katie Browning for the 2014-15 school year.
    The 5-foot-6 Browning competed primarily in the pole vault during her prep career for head coach Adam Gonczy's Bulldogs. She also ran the 100-meter dash, 400-meter dash and 100-meter hurdle events.

    PONTIAC, Mich. - University of Rio Grande director of cross country/track & field Steve Gruenberg has announced the signing of Waterford Mott High School's Connie Cogdell for the 2014-15 school year.
    Cogdell, a 5-foot-8 sprinter, ran in a number of different events throughout her prep career for head coach Amy McNeil's Corsairs, earning a Captain's Award and Coaches Award in the process.
    "It feels good to be signing with Rio Grande and it feels great to continue running at the collegiate level," said Cogdell. "Having the opportunity to do this has been one of my goals since I got to high school."

    WILLIAMSBURG, Ohio - University of Rio Grande director of cross country/track & field Steve Gruenberg has announced the signing of Williamsburg High School's Caley Pringle for the 2014-15 school year.
    Pringle, a 5-foot-5 jumper/hurdler, enjoyed a standout career for the Wildcats, earning a first team selection to the Southern Buckeye Athletic and Academic Conference National Division All-Star team in each of her four seasons.
    Pringle competed in the 100-meter hurdles, the 300-meter hurdles, the high jump, the long jump and the pole vault during her prep career and was named the league's National Division Field Athlete of the Year as a senior.
