    ATHENS, Ohio - University of Rio Grande cross country/track & field head coach Bob Willey has announced the signing of Athens High School's Lucy Williams for the 2015-16 school year.
    Williams, 5-foot-9 distance runner, participated in six events - most notably the 5,000-meter run - over the course of her prep career for head coach Fitz Read's Bulldogs.
    Williams helped the Athens girls cross country team qualify for the Division II state cross country meet in each of her four seasons. She finished in the top six of the TVC-Ohio league meet every year of her career and established a career-best time of 18:52.40 as a senior.

    FLORENCE, Ky. - The University of Rio Grande was tabbed as the No. 3 pick in the 2015 Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Preseason Coaches' Poll released Friday by the league office.
    The RedStorm tallied 86 points in the balloting of the conference's 11 head coaches. Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own teams.
    Head coach Bob Willey's finished third in last year's KIAC Championship meet.

    RIO GRANDE, Ohio - The University of Rio Grande Cross Country/Track & Field programs will simultaneously host their 2015 Distance Camp and 2015 Track Camp, June 28-July 2, on the URG campus.
    The objective of the camps is to increase the standards and knowledge of distance running and track & field, while providing current knowledge in techniques that will result in life-long benefits.
    Campers will hear from a number of guest speakers.

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. – University of Rio Grande senior Brittany Piccone was among the 340 women's cross country student-athletes recently named 2014 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes.
    Piccone, a native of Crooksville, Ohio, helped the RedStorm to a championship in the Patty Forgey Invitational, a second place showing at the Cedarville Open and a third place finish in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship.

    PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Stephanie Gruenberg equaled a season-best time of 20:12 to post an eighth-place finish and lead the University of Rio Grande women's cross country team in the 2014 Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships, Saturday afternoon, at Schenley Park.
    Gruenberg, a sophomore from Claremont, N.H., matched her season-best time which she established in the season-opening Patty Forgey Invitational in September.
    The RedStorm had four of the top 15 finishers in the 5k event, which included 68 runners representing eight schools.
    All seven Rio runners finished in the top 22 and the RedStorm finished third as a team.

    RIO GRANDE, Ohio - The University of Rio Grande women's cross country team will be competing in the 2014 Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday, at 1:30 p.m., at Schenley Park in Pittsburgh, Pa.
    The team champion and the top four individuals who aren't members of the winning team and who finish in the top 15 will advance to the NAIA National Championships on Nov. 22 in Lawrence, Kan.
    The KIAC will also recognize the all-conference teams - based on the finish of Saturday's race - as well as numerous other awards in a ceremony following the run.
