    RIO GRANDE, Ohio - Will Hill scored a career-high 16 points to pace six University of Rio Grande players in double figures, as the RedStorm rolled to a 98-56 win over Ohio University-Chillicothe, Monday afternoon, in non-conference men's basketball action at the Newt Oliver Arena.
    Head coach Ken French's club improved to 10-4 on the season with its third straight win, delighting a matinee crowd which included more than 400 Rio Grande Elementary School students in the 2nd Annual Champion of Character Classic.
    OU-Chillicothe, which suffered a 62-point loss at the hands of the RedStorm last month, remained winless in six all-time meetings with Rio and slipped to 4-11 with the loss.

    RIO GRANDE, Ohio - Evan Legg scored a team-high 18 points to lead five players in double figures as the University of Rio Grande men's basketball team posted an 89-68 win over Miami University-Middletown, Saturday night, as part of the Newt Oliver Coaches Classic at the Newt Oliver Arena.
    The RedStorm, who led from start to finish, won for the second straight time in improving to 9-4.
    MU-Middletown saw its overall record slip to 5-8 with the loss.

    RIO GRANDE, Ohio - Area sports fans in search of something to do on Saturday will have the opportunity to do just that by venturing out to the Newt Oliver Arena.
    The 9th Annual Newt Oliver Coaches Classic, featuring a five-game slate which includes area boys' high school squads and the University of Rio Grande men's team is scheduled for Saturday on the RedStorm's home floor.
    The day gets started at 1:30 p.m. when Wellston High School tangles with Racine Southern, while another prep contest between Eastern Brown and Coal Grove follows at 3 p.m.
    At 4:30 p.m., Vinton County High School squares off with Ripley (OH) before the Rio Grande men's team entertains Miami University-Middletown at 6 p.m.
    The final game of the day pits Oak Hill (OH) High School against River Valley at approximately 7:45 p.m.

    RIO GRANDE, Ohio - D.D. Joiner dropped in 22 points and equaled a career-high with seven assists to lead the University of Rio Grande past Wilberforce University, 89-70, Tuesday night, in non-conference men's basketball action at the Newt Oliver Arena.
    The RedStorm, who stopped a three-game losing streak, improved to 8-4 with the win and completed a season sweep of their former Mid-Ohio and America Mideast Conference rival.
    The Bulldogs dropped to 3-9 with the loss.

    RIO GRANDE, Ohio - Hopefully, a change of scenery will provide the magic elixir that the University of Rio Grande men's basketball team needs to end a three-game losing slide.
    The RedStorm return home for the first time in three weeks when Wilberforce University visits the Newt Oliver Arena on Tuesday night for an 8 p.m. non-conference affair.
    Rio Grande has dropped four of its last six games after a 5-0 start, including an 81-76 setback at rival Shawnee State University last Wednesday.
    Head coach Ken French's club failed to maintain a 15-point lead with just over 19 minutes remaining, as the Bears roared back to get the victory.

    PORTSMOUTH, Ohio - For the second time in five days, Shawnee State University used a second half rally to take down a member of the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
    After erasing a seven-point deficit with just over 12 minutes remaining on Sunday at Alice Lloyd College, the Bears clawed their way back from a 15-point deficit in the opening moments of the final stanza on Wednesday night to post an 81-76 victory over rival University of Rio Grande at the Frank and Janis Waller Gymnasium.
    Shawnee State won for the third straight time on the heels of a six-game losing streak, improving to 4-6 overall. The victory also snapped a three-game losing streak against the RedStorm.
    Rio lost for the third straight time, dropping to 7-4 overall.
