    PORTSMOUTH, Ohio - Host Shawnee State scored five of the final six points in the match to rally for a 3-2 win over the Univesity of Rio Grande, Thursday night, in non-conference volleyball action at the Frank & Janis Waller Gymnasium.
    The Bears outlasted the RedStorm in a see-saw affair by scores of 25-21, 25-27, 25-22, 15-25, 15-13.
    Shawnee State (5-22), which improved to 13-11 all-time against Rio, avenged an earlier loss to the RedStorm and stopped a three-match losing slide.
    Rio Grande, which had an eight-match winning streak snapped, slipped to 17-11 on the season.

    RIO GRANDE, Ohio - The University of Rio Grande nearly led from start to finish and cruised to a straight sets win over Ohio Christian University, Tuesday night, in River States Conference volleyball action at the Newt Oliver Arena.
    The RedStorm, who won for an eighth straight time overall and the seventh consecutive time in league play, took down the visiting Trailblazers by scores of 25-17, 25-20, 25-20.
    Head coach Billina Donaldson's squad improved to 17-10 overall and 7-3 inside the RSC, while also maintaining the distinction of being the only team in the league with a perfect record at home (8-0).
    Ohio Christian suffered a 10th straight loss, falling to 6-22 overall and 0-10 in league play.

    CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio - Don't look now, but the University of Rio Grande volleyball team is the hottest program in the River States Conference.
    The RedStorm ran their conference winning streak to six straight and their overall win streak to seven in a row with straight set wins over Ohio Christian University and Indiana University East in an RSC Crossover event hosted by OCU, Saturday afternoon, at Circleville High School.
    Head coach Billina Donaldson's team took down the host Trailblazers 25-19, 25-22, 25-18 in its opening match of the day before dispatching the Red Wolves 25-23, 25-18, 25-22.
    The sweep left Rio Grande at 16-10 overall and 6-3 in RSC play, 2-1/2 games behind East Division leader Point Park University.

    PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The University of Rio Grande volleyball team earned its fifth straight victory, while one of its senior standouts etched her name into the program's record book during Tuesday night's straight sets win over Carlow University at St. Joseph Hall.
    The RedStorm improved to 14-10 overall and 4-3 in the River States Conference with a 25-16, 25-13, 25-21 over the Celtics.
    Carlow, which fell to the RedStorm for the second time in four days, dropped to 8-19 overall and 2-7 in the RSC.

    FLORENCE, Ky. - University of Rio Grande's Kayla Briley and Marley Hanzel have been named the River States Conference Volleyball Setter and Attacker of the Week, respectively, for the week of for Oct. 3-9.
    The awards were announced late Monday night by the conference office.

    RIO GRANDE, Ohio - After opening River States Conference play with a trio of losses, the University of Rio Grande volleyball team now finds itself with the chance to start anew against league foes.
    The RedStorm routed Carlow University in straight sets and outlasted RSC West Division leader Point Park University in five sets during Saturday afternoon's RSC Crossover event at the Newt Oliver Arena.
    Rio needed just 54 minutes to dispatch Carlow by scores of 25-13, 25-12, 25-15, before handing Point Park its first conference loss of the season 18-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-23, 15-6.
    The RedStorm ended the day with a four-match winning streak, as well as an overall record of 13-10 and a 3-3 mark in league play.
