     GRAYSON, Ky. - The University of Rio Grande volleyball team ran its winning streak to three on Saturday afternoon, cruising to a pair of straight set wins in a tri-match hosted by Kentucky Christian University.
     The RedStorm ran their overall season record to 9-7 with a 25-22, 25-9, 25-11 triumph over Johnson (Tenn.) University and a 25-12, 25-20, 25-16 rout of the host Knights at the Lusby Center/Dick Damron Arena.

    RIO GRANDE, Ohio - The University of Rio Grande volleyball team snapped a three-game losing slide on Tuesday night and one of its senior standouts established a new school record in the process.
    The RedStorm rolled to a straight sets win over Glenville (WV) State College by scores of 25-14, 25-20, 25-16 in non-conference play at the Newt Oliver Arena and Chandler Brown became the program's all-time digs leader.
    Brown, a native of Stockdale, Ohio, finished with a match-high 20 digs to surpass the previous school record of 2,024 set by Jacquie Whittle from 2007-09. Play was stopped briefly after the record-breaker and Brown was presented with flowers from her teammates and a miniature golden shovel by head coach Billina Donaldson.

    CHICAGO, Ill. - Needless to say, on the heels of five wins in their last six outings, getting swept in three weekend matches was the last thing the University of Rio Grande volleyball was thinking about.
    Unfortunately, that's exactly what happened to the RedStorm.
    Head coach Billina Donaldson's club fell to quad host Roosevelt University on Friday night before dropping decisions to Central Methodist (Mo.) and Milligan (Tenn.) on Saturday afternoon.
    The host Lakers handed Rio a 14-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-12 loss on Friday, while Central Methodist rolled to a 3-1 win as well by scores of 20-25, 25-21, 25-14, 25-18.
    The final loss on Saturday to Milligan came in straight sets, 27-25, 25-15, 26-24.

    RIO GRANDE, Ohio - The University of Rio Grande rallied late in set four and grabbed control early in the fifth and deciding set en route to a 3-2 win over rival Shawnee State University, Tuesday night, in non-conference volleyball action at the Newt Oliver Arena.
    The RedStorm won for the fifth time in their last six outings and ran their season record to 6-4 with a 14-25, 25-13, 20-25, 25-23, 15-10 victory over the Bears.
    Shawnee State slipped to 2-8 with the loss.

Rio's Chandler Brown was named RSC Defender of the Week for a second straight time on Monday

    FLORENCE, Ky. - University of Rio Grande senior libero Chandler Brown was named the River States Conference Volleyball Defender of the Week for the second time in a row, this time for her play Aug. 29-Sept. 4.
    Brown, from Stockdale, Ohio, racked up 77 digs in four matches on the week for an average of 4.53 per set. She also tallied 11 service aces, 10 of which came in an amazing fifth-set during a 3-2 win over Lawrence Tech (Mich.) at the Point Park Battle of the Boulevard Sept. 2.

    PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The University of Rio Grande volleyball team managed a split of its final two matches in the Battle of the Boulevard Tournament, Saturday afternoon, at Point Park University.
    The RedStorm dropped a 3-2 decision to Siena Heights (Mich.) by scores of 19-25, 25-18, 22-25, 25-16, 15-10, before rallying to post a four-set victory over the host Pioneers (25-20, 19-25, 25-22, 25-20).
    Rio Grande finished the weekend with three wins in four tries, improving to 5-4 on the season.
