     CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio - The University of Rio Grande snapped a three-match losing slide by posting a straight sets victory over Ohio Christian University, Tuesday night, in non-conference volleyball action at the Maxwell Center.
     The RedStorm pushed their overall record to 2-3 by virtue of a 25-19, 25-17, 25-23 triumph over the Trailblazers.
     Ohio Christian was playing its season opener.

    MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - A tough day at the net did not bode well for the University of Rio Grande volleyball team, as the RedStorm closed out their season-opening trip to Florida with a pair of losses on Saturday.
    Head coach Billina Donaldson's club dropped a four-set affair to Doane (Neb.) in its first outing (23-25, 25-16, 25-23, 25-15), before falling to host St. Thomas University in straight sets (25-13, 25-18, 25-20) in the STU Classic at the Fernandez Family Center.
    Rio Grande finished the weekend at 1-3.

     MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The University of Rio Grande volleyball team found itself on both ends of the spectrum in its season-opening matches on Friday afternoon.
     The RedStorm posted a straight sets rout of Florida Memorial University (25-18, 25-13, 25-17) before suffering a three-set loss at the hands of Warner (Fla.) University (25-13, 26-24, 25-12) in day one of the STU Classic hosted by St. Thomas University at the Fernandez Family Center.

    FLORENCE, Ky. -- Indiana University Kokomo is the consensus favorite in the 2016 River States Conference Volleyball Preseason Coaches' Poll announced by the league office on Friday.
    The Cougars claimed the top spot in the preseason poll -- the first time any IU Kokomo team has ever topped a conference preseason poll -- after voting was conducted from the league's 12 volleyball head coaches. IU Kokomo received the maximum number of 11 first-place votes and 121 points in the voting. Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own teams.
    IU Kokomo had a very impressive season in 2015 with a record of 34-5 overall, 11-1 conference and a KIAC Tournament championship. The Cougars made their first appearance in the NAIA National Championship Opening Round and battled yearly national power Madonna (Mich.) before beforing bowing out of nationals.
    The River States Conference was formerly known as the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference but underwent a re-branding effective July 1, 2016.

    RIO GRANDE, Ohio - The University of Rio Grande will host its 2016 Summer Volleyball Camp, June 26-28, at the Lyne Center on the URG campus.
    The camp is open to girls in grades 5-12.
    Campers will receive instruction in fundamentals and various drills from a staff that will include a former All-American, as well as All-Ohio and Player of the Year honorees and NAIA national leaders in their area of specialty.
    Campers will also be divided into teams for tournament play to conclude the camp.

    FLORENCE, Ky. - The University of Rio Grande placed two players on the 2015 All-Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball First Team, while also producing two of the league's individual award winners.
    The post-season honors were recently announced during the KIAC Tournament hosted by the University of Rio Grande.
    Junior libero Chandler Brown (Stockdale, OH) was named the Conference Libero of the Year and joined fellow junior Kayla Briley (Marion, OH) were among those named to the All-KIAC first team.
    Brown tied for the KIAC lead with 6.0 digs per set and was second in the conference with 675 total digs. Her digs per set were fifth in the nation.
    Briley led the KIAC in assists per set at 9.4 and was third in the conference with 1,060 total assists. She also had 364 digs to rank second among setters in the KIAC.
    Freshman Brooke Bostelman (Kenton, OH) was named the KIAC Comeback Player of the Year. Bostelman, an outside hitter, rebounded from a knee injury which forced her to miss the entire 2014 season to total 193 kills and 224 digs.
