    McARTHUR, Ohio – University of Rio Grande track & field head coach Bob Willey has announced the signing of Vinton County High School's Jennifer Case for the 2015-16 school year.
    Case, a 5-foot-2 mid-distance/relay runner, participated in the 4x400 relay, the 4x800 relay, the 1,600-meter run and the 3,200-meter run during her prep career for head coach Jon Lindner's Vikings. She also ran on the school's cross country team for the first time last fall.
    "I'm excited to be signing with Rio Grande because it's a challenge to myself and a chance to continue being part of a running family," Case said. "Honestly, I never thought I would be able to continue running in college, but I'm happy with the opportunity to be a part of the team here and I'm excited to see the outcome."

    WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Two members of the University of Rio Grande women's track and field team posted Top 10 finishes at Saturday's Dave Rankin Invitational hosted by Purdue University.
    Freshman Tyanna Petty (Somerset, OH) tied for fourth in the high jump after clearing 1.61 meters, while sophomore Katie Roberts (Vinton, OH) was sixth in the javelin throw with a heave which covered 32.29 meters.

    BEREA, Ky. - University of Rio Grande junior Carrie Coriell was named the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week by KIAC officials on Monday.
    Coriell won three individual titles and was runner-up in another event at Saturday's KIAC Championships in Rio Grande. She won the javelin with a mark of 30.21m, the hammer throw with a mark of 44.89m, the discus with a mark of 38m.

    RIO GRANDE, Ohio - Athletes representing the University of Rio Grande women's track & field team captured 11 individual and two relay titles and the RedStorm rolled to a lopsided team championship in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship meet, Saturday afternoon, at the Stockmeister Track & Field Complex.
    Rio Grande piled up 315 points as a team, easily outdistancing runner-up Point Park University, which finished 125 points behind the RedStorm. Indiana Univeristy-East was third with 45 points and Brescia University placed fourth with 43 points.
    Junior Carrie Coriell (Lucasville, OH) had the biggest day for the RedStorm individually, winning three titles and finishing as the runner-up in another. She took the top spot in the hammer throw (44.39m), discus throw (38.00m) and javelin throw (30.21m) and placed second in the shot put (11.92m).
    Freshmen Tyanna Petty (Somerset, OH), Maddie Rigsby (Reedsville, OH) and Keri Lawrence (Reedsville, OH) all played roles in three championships.

    OXFORD, Ohio - Katie Roberts posted a fifth-place finish in the javelin throw, providing the University of Rio Grande women's track & field team with its top showing at the All-Ohio Championship, which concluded its two-day run on Saturday at Miami University's Ryder Track.
    Roberts, a sophomore from Vinton, Ohio, had a toss of 101-11 to earn her spot in the final standings.
    Roberts was one of seven individuals and two relay units representing the RedStorm who recorded a top 10 finish in their respective events.

    CONWAY, S.C. - Freshman Rachel Ball posted a second place finish in the one mile run to highlight the performance of the University of Rio Grande women's track & field squad in the Shamrock Invitational, which concluded Saturday at Coastal Carolina University's Doug Shaw Stadium.
    Ball, a native of Chillicothe, Ohio, finished the course in a time of 5:42.36 - nearly four seconds behind event winner Vivian Ruiz of Concord University.
    The meet - which attracted more than 60 schools representing all three divisions of the NCAA and the NAIA - was not a scored event, meaning team champions were not awarded.
    Eight other athletes representing the RedStorm managed top 10 finishes in their respective events. Three of the eight set new school records in the process.
