    RIO GRANDE, Ohio - D.D. Joiner and Evan Legg had five points each during a 20-2 second half scoring spurt by the University of Rio Grande, leading the RedStorm to an 80-68 come-from-behind win over arch-rival Shawnee State University, Thursday night, in non-conference men's basketball action at the Newt Oliver Arena.
    The RedStorm, who earned a season-split with the Bears by winning for the sixth time in the last eight meetings in the series, upped their overall mark to 15-8.
    Shawnee State, which had won each of its previous two outings, including a victory over then-NAIA Division I No. 1 Campbellsville University last Saturday, slipped to 8-11 with the loss.

    RIO GRANDE, Ohio - The University of Rio Grande women's basketball team used a 13-2 run midway through the opening half to turn a three-point deficit into an eight-point lead and the RedStorm never looked back, cruising to a 77-57 over arch-rival Shawnee State University, Thursday night, in non-conference play at the Newt Oliver Arena.
    Rio Grande improved to 17-6 with its eighth straight victory. The winning streak is Rio's first of eight games or more since the 2007-08 season when the then-Redwomen began the season with 10 consecutive wins.
    The victory was also just the sixth in 54 all-time meetings with Shawnee, although the RedStorm have defeated the Bears in each of their last three trips to Rio Grande.
    Shawnee State, ranked No. 16 in the latest NAIA Division I coaches poll, slipped to 17-6 with its third straight loss.

    OWENSBORO, Ky. - Kyle Nixon's three-pointer with 2:37 remaining in overtime snapped an 83-all tie and gave host Brescia University a lead it wouldn't relinquish in a 97-89 win over the University of Rio Grande, Tuesday night, in Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball action at the Campus Center.
    The Bearcats improved to 14-7 overall and 6-1 inside the KIAC with their fourth consecutive victory, while also maintaining a tie with the Asbury University for the lead in the league's South Division after the Eagles posted a win over Indiana-Kokomo.
    Rio Grande slipped to 14-8 overall and 3-4 in league play, falling one-half game behind Point Park for second place in the KIAC North Division.
