RIO GRANDE, Ohio - The University of Rio Grande collected a single-game school record 27 hits, including a single-game school record six home runs, en route to a 22-0 rout of Central Penn College, Monday afternoon, in non-conference baseball action at Bob Evans Field.
The RedStorm, who won for a sixth straight time, improved to 26-20 with the victory in their 2015 home finale.
Central Penn, a first-year program affiliated with the United States Collegiate Athletic Association, dropped to 3-17 with the loss.
Rio Grande's 27 hits eclipsed the previous single-game high of 26 set against Walsh University in 1983 and the six home runs are believed to be the most in any single contest.
The RedStorm's 22-run winning margin also surpassed the previous school record of 20, which was set in a 21-1 win over Franciscan in 2009.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The University of Rio Grande was among the teams receiving votes in the latest NAIA Softball Coaches' Top 25 released on Tuesday.
The RedStorm, who learned of the ranking prior to their doubleheader with Carlow University, garnered five points in the balloting - good enough for the equivalent of 37th place.
Rio Grande was the only Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference team to appear in the poll, which was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences /independent /unaffiliated groupings.
