PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The University of Rio Grande's debut in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference turned out to be an inauspicious one.
Point Park University, the defending KIAC champion, avenged an opening round loss in last year's NAIA national tournament and spoiled Rio's debut in the league with a 2-1 win over the RedStorm, Saturday afternoon, in men's soccer action at Highmark Stadium.
Rio Grande, ranked No. 7 in the latest NAIA coaches poll, slipped to 5-1-2 with the loss.
Point Park improved to 5-2 overall and 1-0 in league play.
