    RIO GRANDE, Ohio - The University of Rio Grande women's basketball team will attempt to move one step closer to a Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship on Saturday when it plays host to Indiana University-East in the semifinal round of the KIAC Tournament.
    Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. at the Newt Oliver Arena.
    The RedStorm, ranked 24th for the second straight week in the NAIA Division II coaches' poll, swept the regular season series from the Red Wolves, winning 95-81 on January 10 in Richmond, Ind. and posting a 100-73 Senior Day victory two weeks ago at the Newt Oliver Arena.

    WILMORE, Ky. - Tyler Smith scored eight of his 14 second half points as part of a scoring spurt which helped Asbury University build a double-digit lead and post an eventual 91-79 win over the University of Rio Grande in the quarterfinal round of the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball tournament, Wednesday night, at the Luce Physical Activities Center.
    The Eagles, the No. 2 seed from the KIAC South Division, completed a season sweep of the RedStorm, improving to 20-10 overall and advancing to Saturday's semifinal round against Point Park University.
    Rio Grande, the No. 3 seed from the KIAC North, finished its season at 19-12.

    RIO GRANDE, Ohio - During the course of its school-record winning streak, the University of Rio Grande women's basketball team has shown the ability to put the opposition away in impressive fashion.
    On Wednesday night, the RedStorm showed it has the means with which to mount a comeback.
    Head coach David Smalley's club overcame a 14-point first half deficit to defeat Cincinnati Christian University, 88-70, in the quarterfinal round of the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament at the Newt Oliver Arena.
    Rio Grande, the top seed from the league's North Division, upped its record to 25-6 while extending it school-record winning streak to 16 straight.
    By virtue of the victory, the RedStorm advance to Saturday's semifinal round against Indiana University-East, which surprised Indiana University-Southeast, 68-60, in one of the three remaining quarterfinal round games played on Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. at the Newt Oliver Arena.
    Cincinnati Christian, the No. 4 seed from the South Division, finished 15-15 with the loss.
