Rio's Lower is tabbed MSC Defensive Player of the Week

LOUISVILLE, Ky. University of Rio Grande goalkeeper Jordan Lower has been selected as the Mid-South Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

The weekly conference award is the first of the season for Lower.

Lower recorded a pair of shutouts on the week to earn Mid-South Defensive Player of the Week. The South Webster, Ohio, sophomore goalkeeper, recorded three saves in Rio's 1-0 win over No. 23-ranked Mount Vernon Nazarene University.

He completed his week with four saves in a 2-0 win over University of the Cumberlands.

Lower is third in the MSC with a 1.23 goals against average.

No. 9-ranked Rio Grande is 6-2 on the season and 2-1 in conference play. The RedStorm return to action on Tuesday as they travel to St. Catharine College. Kick-off is set for 3 p.m.
