Head Coach - 9th Season
David Pyles enters his ninth season as head coach of the University of Rio Grande Softball program.  Beginning with the 2003 season the Rio Grande softball program has qualified for post-season play.  The 2004 season being Pyles' best season to date setting a school record for wins (40) and advancing to the NAIA National Tournament after winning the Region IX title.  The 2006 season saw the team have a 3.75 grade point average, which earned the team the highest softball GPA in the nation leading all collegiate divisions.  Rio Grande repeated that feat in 2007.
 
Pyles has compiled an overall record of 212-129 in his eight seasons.  Pyles resides in Gallipolis Ferry, West Virginia with his wife, Connie.  He operates his own taxidermy business.
 

Jessica Ross

Assistant Coach - 2nd Season
Ross is in her second season as assistant coach for the Rio Grande softball program.  Ross was one of the top players in Rio Grande softball history.  She was lead-off and centerfielder for Coach Pyles from 2005-2008.
 
Ross, a native of HIlliard, OH, was a three-time 1st team All-American Mideast Conference performer, culminating with the AMC South Player of the Year honor in 2008.  That year, Ross batted .500 with 52 runs scored and 36 stolen bases.  She also earned NAIA Honorable Mention All-American and NAIA Scholar Athlete honors that year. 
 
Ross is currently working on her Master's degree at the University of Rio Grande.
