POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. - The University of Rio Grande women's soccer team snapped a two-game losing slide, taking advantage of two second half scoring opportunities to post a 2-0 win over Kentucky Christian University, Tuesday night, at Memorial Stadium.

The game was originally scheduled to be played in Rio Grande, but was moved to the artificial turf at nearby Point Pleasant High School due to the heavy rain which blanketed the region on Monday and into the mid-afternoon hours on Tuesday.

The RedStorm (2-2) outshot the Lady Knights, 21-6, including 14-2 over the final 45 minutes after the two squads played to a scoreless tie at the intermission.

Junior forward Candace Chapman (Jackson, Ohio) gave URG the only marker it would need when she scored off an assist from sophomore forward Alexandria Davis (Ashville, OH) at the 54:20 mark of the second half.

Just over five minutes later, sophomore midfielder Mary Beth Schramm (Marietta, OH) scored her third goal of the season on a rebound in front of the net to set the final score.

Junior goalkeeper Katelyn Fuller (Hamilton, OH) recorded six saves for Rio Grande in her first start of the season.

Stefanie Kenley stopped eight shots in goal for Kentucky Christian, which fell to 1-1 with the loss.

URG returns to action on Saturday, hosting Davenport University. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
