Rio's Sherman is MSC Player of the Week

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- University of Rio Grande freshman middle hitter Erin Sherman was selected as one of the Mid-South Conference Volleyball Players of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

Sherman averaged 3.6 kills per game and amassed a .409 hitting percentage to earn MSC Hitter of the Week. The South Webster, Ohio, freshman, recorded double digit kills in three of her four matches this week, including 16 kills in a sweep of conference foe Pikeville College. She also added 12 solo blocks and eight block assists.

Sherman leads the MSC with a .362 hitting percentage and is second with a 3.3 kills per game average.

This is first award for Sherman this season. 

Rio Grande is 10-10 and 6-4 in MSC play. The RedStorm have a non-conference match with former American Mideast Conference foe Walsh on Saturday. The start time is set for 11 a.m. inside the Newt Oliver Arena.
