RedStorm Cross Country makes noise at All-Ohio
Delaware, Oh. --- The University of Rio Grande RedStorm men's cross country team made some noise at the All-Ohio Championships on Friday afternoon, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan. The RedStorm finished 9th (out of 38 teams) with 283 points. The women finished 29th (out of 42 teams) accumulating 808 points.
The Rio Grande women were again led by junior Cassie Mattia (West Chester, OH). She finished 106th overall with a time of 21:06.5. Senior Stacey Arnett (Circleville, OH) was next in 117th place (21:16.9).
Junior Brooke Wampler (Grove City, OH) ran in the number three spot this week for the RedStorm as she crossed the line in 155th place and posting a time of 21:51.1. Freshman Amy Lower (Lancaster, OH) finished 191st (22:26.7), sophomore Molly Roark (South Webster, OH) finished 239th (23:42.7), sophomore Danielle Stockham (London, OH) ran 242nd (23:46.9) and junior Beth Hysell (Pomeroy, OH) rounded out the top seven in 256th
place (24:27.6).
Ohio State won the women's event with 58 points. The top NAIA team to finish was NAIA No. 5 Malone. The Pioneers were 7th with 217 points.
There were 285 runners in the women's event.
Both teams have next weekend off before returning to competition, October 16, at the Wilmington College Fall Classic. The meet will begin at 4:30 p.m.
