RedStorm Cross Country makes noise at All-Ohio

Delaware, Oh. --- The University of Rio Grande RedStorm men's cross country team made some noise at the All-Ohio Championships on Friday afternoon, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan. The RedStorm finished 9th (out of 38 teams) with 283 points. The women finished 29th (out of 42 teams) accumulating 808 points.
Ohio State won the men's event with 28 points, finishing ahead of NAIA No. 1 Malone (72) and NAIA No. 9 Shawnee State (94). 
 

Rio did manage to beat NAIA No. 13 Cedarville, who finished 10th

 

Sophomore Bryce Wilson (Jackson, OH) continued to establish himself as the top runner for the RedStorm as he produced a strong 11th place finish. His time was 26:52.5. Sophomore Nick Wilson (Fleming, OH) finished 25th with a time of 27:33.1. Junior Matthew Spencer (Pickerington, OH) was right behind Wilson in 27th place (27:34.7). 

 

Sophomore Chad McCarty (Tipp City, OH) was the next Rio runner to finish as he crossed the stripe in 106th place and a time of 28:46.4. Freshman Nathan Mogle (New Madison, OH) was 114th overall and posted a time of 28:52.1. Sophomore Zane Miller (Grove City, OH) finished 156th (29:41.2) and sophomore Chas Whittington rounded out the top seven, finishing 170th (30:00). 

 
There were 239 runners in the men's race.
 

Both teams have next weekend off before returning to competition, October 16, at the Wilmington College Fall Classic. The meet will begin at 4:30 p.m.
