Marietta, Ohio --- The University of Rio Grande RedStorm women's track and field squad performed very well on Friday at the Marietta Open, finishing 7th out of 13 teams with 43 points.

Junior sprinter Kayla Graves (Chillicothe, OH) and junior distance runner Kayla Renner (Galloway, OH) were the top performers for the RedStorm. Graves finished second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:03.88. Renner posted a time of 11:11.68 and finished 2nd in the 3,000-meter run. Graves just missed scoring in the 200 meters, finishing 10th (28.61).

Sophomore distance runner Amy Lower (Westerville, OH) claimed a third place finish in the 1,000-meter run. She covered the distance in 3:35.69. Senior Hillary Haines (McConnellsville, OH) was right behind Lower, registering a time of 3:39.19.

Other RedStorm scoring results: senior distance runner Stacey Arnett (Laurelville, OH), 6th in the 1-mile run (5:39.89); sophomore thrower Kim Strunk ( Milford, OH), 6th in the shot put (35 feet, 9 ¼ inches); junior thrower Cory Crutcher (Eaton, OH), 6th in the weight throw (39 feet, four inches); junior thrower Tracie Brown (Logan, OH), 7th in the shot put (34 feet, nine inches) and 7th in the weight throw (38 feet, 11 inches); freshman sprinter Brea Close (Gallipolis, OH), 7th in the 55-meter dash (7.85) and freshman distance runner Genna Baker (Gallipolis, OH), 8th in the 1-mile run (5:58.24).

West Virginia Wesleyan won the women's meet, scoring 165.50 points.

Rio Grande will return to competition next Friday at the Cedarville Invitational. The meet will begin at 4 p.m.
