Charleston, WV --- The University of Rio Grande RedStorm women's soccer team wasn't able to capitalize on the momentum of their upset victory over Shawnee State on Wednesday evening as they lost 7-0 at the University of Charleston on Saturday night. The match was played at Coonskin Park.

Rio Grande (2-6) could not generate any offense to speak of in the game as it spent the entire night playing defense. Rio was out-shot 37-0 for the game.

Both sophomore Kaitlyn Schultz (Plain City, OH) and freshman Hannah Stickelman (Ontario, OH) were in goal for the RedStorm on Saturday night and both were busy. Stickelman started the match and allowed three first half goals, but managed to stop 14 shots. Schultz played the second half and allowed four goals and had four saves.

Elyse Surbaugh had a big night for Charleston (6-3) with one goal and two assists.

Rio Grande will return home on Tuesday night for a non-conference contest with Mountain State. The two schools have met only one time previously and Rio Grande scored a 4-0 victory over the Lady Cougars on September 4, 2007.

Kick-off is set for 6 p.m. at Evan Davis Field.
