Rio Grande --- It was a busy week for the University of Rio Grande RedStorm baseball program as they continue stockpile talent for the future. The latest addition is Kevin Logan of Central Crossing High School. He is third newcomer to join the program in the past week.

Logan, a 5'11" second baseman, batted nearly .400 during his senior season and led Central Crossing in on-base percentage.

He was pleased to be able to finally secure a college destination. "I'm grateful and I look forward to trying to play for Rio," he said. "They are a great team and I really like the layout of the school."

"It's a nice school and a good way to further my career and make my future better," Logan added.

Rio Grande head coach Brad Warnimont likes the fact that Logan played for a solid high school program in Central Crossing. "Kevin played for a quality program and we hope that experience helps him here at Rio."

Logan provided a personal scouting report of his abilities and assets as a baseball player. "I feel I am a great team player, a leader," he said. "I have a good glove, I hit for contact, but I do need to work on my strength."

Logan said his aim is a starting spot within the program, but he really just wants to do whatever he can to help Rio Grande remain a successful program. "I want to obtain a starting position and help the team win," Logan said.

He wants to pursue a degree in the marketing/advertising field.

Kevin is the son of Kevin Logan and Donna Van Wagner of Columbus.

Logan joins Columbus Briggs High School standout Zachary Taylor, Jake Scarlato of Oak Hills High School in Cincinnati, Adena High School's Andrew Cottrill, Cameron Norman of Lancaster High School and Loren Huffman of Raceland-Worthington High School in Raceland, Ky. as the newest members of the Rio baseball program.

Rio Grande is coming off a record breaking 48-13 season in 2010 in which it appeared in the NAIA National Tournament for the first time in school history. Rio finished second in the Mid-South Conference during the regular season with a 20-7 mark. The RedStorm were champions of the MSC Tournament.
