RedStorm track has final tune-up for MSC Meet
Athens, OH --- The University of Rio Grande RedStorm men's and women's track and field teams had their final preparations for next week's Mid-South Conference Meet at the All-Ohio Championships at Ohio University this past weekend.
The women finished 15th (out of 16 teams), scoring four points. The RedStorm men
produced some solid finishes, but did not register a team score against a stacked field of NCAA Division I and Division II teams.
For the men, red-shirt freshman Nick Wilson (Fleming, OH) ran strong in the 1,500-meter run as he finished 17th overall and recorded a time of 4:09.62. Freshman Joe Taranto (Pickerington, OH) finished 20th in the 1,500 (4:11.83). Junior Matthew Spencer (Pickerington, OH) was 20th in the 800-meter run, covering the distance in 2:00.42. Freshman Chris Aldea (Grove City, OH) was just behind Spencer in 21st place with a time
of 2:00.65.
Sophomore Lucas Murphy (Grove City, OH) finished 30th overall in the 800-meter run
(2:05.09).
Next up: Rio Grande will host the Mid-South Conference Meet next weekend, April 23-24 at the Stockmeister Track & Field Complex. The meet will begin on Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.
