RedStorm track competes at Miami Open

Oxford, OH --- The University of Rio Grande RedStorm men's and women's track and field squads were in competition at the Miami Open on Saturday. The RedStorm men's team finished 14th (out of 15 teams) with six points and the RedStorm women were 15th (out of 15) with four points. 
 
Senior sprinter Chris Woodfork (Chillicothe, OH) was the only Rio performer to score as he placed third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.23. Woodfork was also14th in
the 200-meter dash (23.11). 
 
Sophomore Mike Green (Columbus, OH) finished just out of the top 10 in the long jump with an 11th place effort of 20 feet, 11 ¾ inches. He was 13th in the100-meter dash with a time of 11.39. Freshman sprinter Jay Butler (Cincinnati, OH) was 12th overall in the
men's 200-meter dash with a time of 23.00. Red-shirt freshman Nick Wilson (Fleming, OH) ran 15th in the 5,000-meter run. He covered the distance in 15:16.52. 
 
Senior David Croom (Heath, OH) was 17th in the 200 meters (23.35) and 20th in the 100 meters (11.53). Senior Wayne Dudley (Columbus, OH) was 20th in the long jump
with a best effort of 17 feet, 7 ½ inches. 
 

Senior middle distance man Randy Cook (Logan, OH) finished 19th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.68. He was 24th in the 200 (24.03). 

 
Other RedStorm men's results: sophomore Lucas Murphy (Grove City, OH) was 23rd in
both the 800-meter run (2:03.39) and the 1,500-meter run (4:11.35). Freshman Joe Taranto (Pickerington, OH) was 24th in the 1,500 (4:13.09), junior Matt Spencer (Pickerington, OH) was 29th in the 5,000-meter run (15:48.33) and sophomore Zane Miller (Grove City, OH) finished 42nd in the 5,000 (16:26.45). 
 

Rio will compete in the All-Ohio Outdoor Championships next Saturday at Ohio University.
