NAIA/Rio Grande Sports Information
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced that 395 women's softball student-athletes, including six from the University of Rio Grande, have been named 2017 Daktronics-NAIA Women's Softball Scholar-Athletes.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved junior academic status.
Rio Grande was represented on the list by seniors Courtney Walk (Unionville Center, OH), Brittany Walk (Unionville Center, OH), Alex Stevens (Oak Hill, OH) and Kari Jenkins (Jackson, OH), along with juniors Kayla McEldowney (Versailles, OH) and Hannah Hawley (Thurman, OH).
Siena Heights (Mich.) and Reinhardt (Ga.) led all schools with nine individuals on the list.
