RIO GRANDE, Ohio - The University of Rio Grande placed six runners in the top nine and took top team honors in the women's division of the 2nd Annual RedStorm Classic, Friday afternoon, at a rain-splashed and windswept Rio Grande Cross Country Course.
Sophomore Lucy Williams (Athens, OH) had the RedStorm's top finish, taking second place in 19:19. Ohio Christian University's Ariel Arellano-Young won the 5K run by crossing the finish line in 19:15.
Sophomore Maggie Dellinger (Washington Court House, OH) and junior Aubrey Dunfee (Baltimore, OH) also finished in the top five, with Dellinger in fourth at 20:27 and Dunfee in fifth by finishing in 20:49.
Rio Grande tallied 24 points as a team, while Ohio Christian was second with 35 points. Bluefield (Va.) College also had runners in the race, but did not post a team score.
Also representing Rio Grande in the race was junior Keri Lawrence (Reedsville, OH), who was sixth in 20:54; junior Rachel Ball (Chillicothe, OH), who placed seventh in 20:59; senior Katie Glover (Ashville, OH), who placed 10th after crossing in 21:42; junior Emili Sannes (Carlisle, OH), who finished 11th in 22:07; senior Alex Ellis (Ona, W.Va.), who was 12th in 22:14; freshman Reaghan Haines (Hillsboro, OH), who placed 15th in 24:38; and senior Clarissa Kosnich (Hillsboro, OH), who was 19th in 26:00.
Rio Grande will next be in action at the River States Conference Championship Meet on November 5 in Beckley, W.Va.
