WILMINGTON, Ohio - The University of Rio Grande women's cross country team posted a 20th place finish in Friday afternoon's Jenna Strong Fall Classic hosted by Wilmington College.
The RedStorm finished with 564 points as a team in the 38-school field and was fourth among NAIA schools who participated.
Junior Keri Lawrence (Reedsville, OH) led the RedStorm, placing 78th among the 367 runners with a time of 20:00 on the 5k course.
Also competing for Rio in the event were junior Aubrey Dunfee (Baltimore, OH), who placed 87th in 20:09; junior Rachel Ball (Chillicothe, OH), who was 99th with a time of 20:19; senior Katie Glover (Ashville, OH), who crossed 185th in a time of 21:33; senior Alex Ellis (Ona, WV), who was 197th after crossing the line in 21:42; junior Emili Sannes (Carlisle, OH), who crossed the line in 24:01 for 291st place; freshman Reaghan Haines (Hillsboro, OH), who placed 300th with a time of 24:25; sophomore Maggie Dellinger (Washington Court House, OH), who finished 306th with a time of 24:35 and senior Clarissa Kosnich (Hillsboro, OH), who was 327th after crossing the line in 25:34.
NCAA Division I Wright State captured the overall team title with 50 points, while Shawnee State University (81), Cleveland State (131), Findlay (156) and Miami-Ohio (186) comprised the top five.
Rachel Slingluff, who ran unattached, had the fastest individual finish with a mark of 17:30. The top individual to score was runner-up Hailey Brumfield of Wright State, who recorded a time of 17:53.
Rio Grande returns to action on Friday, Oct. 21 when it hosts the RedStorm Classic.
