CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The University of Rio Grande women's cross country team finished 25th in Friday afternoons's All-Ohio Collegiate Championships at Cedarville University's Elvin R. King Course.
The RedStorm had 702 points as a team in the 43-school field. Among the 15 NCAA Division II and NAIA schools who participated, Rio placed eighth.
Sophomore Lucy Williams (Athens, OH) led the RedStorm for the second straight outing, placing 73rd among the 295 runners on the 6k course with a time of 23:24. She was 21st among the 101 runners in the DII/NAIA division.
Also competing for Rio in the event were sophomore Maggie Dellinger (Washington Court House, OH), who finished 123rd with a time of 24:21; junior Keri Lawrence (Reedsville, OH), who was 155th after crossing the line in 24:46; junior Aubrey Dunfee (Baltimore, OH), who placed 158th in 24:49; junior Rachel Ball (Chillicothe, OH), who was 196th with a time of 25:34; junior Emili Sannes (Carlisle, OH), who crossed the line in 26:22 for 233rd place and senior Katie Glover (Ashville, OH), who crossed 246th in a time of 26:58.
NCAA Division I Miami captured the overall team title with 59 points, while the University of Dayton (71), Cedarville (79), Ohio State (112) and Wright State (165) comprised the top five.
Miami's Maria Scavuzzo had the top individual time of the day, finishing in 21:28.
In the NCAA Division II/NAIA divisional breakdown, Cedarville (18), Malone (79) and Walsh (81) were the top three teams. Findlay (111) and Mount Vernon Nazarene (151) rounded out the top five.
Olivia Esbenshade of Cedarville had the best individual finish in the division with a time of 21:47.
Rio Grande returns to action on Friday, Oct. 14 at the Wilmington College Fall Classic.
