Rase earns All-MSC Honorable Mention

Frankfort, Ky. --- University of Rio Grande RedStorm senior guard P.J. Rase was tabbed honorable mention All-Mid-South Conference on Thursday night at the annual banquet held at the Capital Plaza Hotel. 

Rase, a native of Wheelersburg, OH, put together a banner season in his final year for Rio Grande. He led the team in scoring at 16.6 points per game, which ranks No.3 in the conference. Rase leads the MSC and the NAIA in free throw percentage at 94.5 percent and is one of the top perimeter players in the country with a three-point shooting percentage of 43.4 percent. He has 92 made treys on the season.

Rase was All-American Mideast Conference last season for the RedStorm.

Rase also earned MSC All-Academic honors as well. Rase was an AMC and NAIA Scholar Athlete last season. He was joined on that list by teammate Wendell Bates, Jr. (Akron, OH). This is a first time honor for Bates. 

There were 18 members of the men's all-academic team.

To qualify for the MSC All-Academic team a student-athlete must be a sophomore, junior or senior and carry a minimum 3.25 grade point average.

Rase, Bates and the rest of the RedStorm will face off against NAIA No. 7 and MSC regular season champion Campbellsville on Friday morning at 10 a.m. Stretch Internet will have play-by-play coverage beginning at 9:45 a.m.
