Hively improves standing in race walk

Findlay, Oh. --- University of Rio Grande RedStorm senior race walker Kyle Hively improved his time in the men's 3,000-meter race walk on Saturday at the University of Findlay Track & Field Classic and most likely improved his seeding for the NAIA National Meet.

Hively, a native of Vinton, OH, finished 2nd in the race with a time of 15:05.30. Hively finished 8th in the 3,000-meter race walk and hit a qualifying time of 15:26.83 two weeks prior at Cedarville.

"Kyle improved on his time and that should move him up in seeding for nationals," Rio Grande assistant coach Matt Boyles said.

Hively finished 10th in the NAIA indoor meet last year with a time of 14:23.27. He will get the opportunity to better that finish this year at the indoor championships, March 4-6 in Johnson City, TN.

Hively and the rest of teammates will resume the 2010 season next weekend at the Mt. Union Invitational. The team was originally scheduled to compete at the Marietta Open, but changed due to facility issues at Marietta.
