RedStorm women end season

Columbia, Ky. ---- It was post-season for the first time in school history for the University of Rio Grande RedStorm women's soccer team as they faced off with NAIA No. 1 Lindsey Wilson in the first round of the Mid-South Conference Tournament on Friday afternoon. LWC was too much for the RedStorm as it rolled to an impressive 11-0 win thus ending Rio Grande's season.

It was the second win of the season for Lindsey Wilson (16-2-1) over Rio Grande. The Blue Raiders won the regular season match-up by the same score back on October 15 at Evan Davis Field.

Rio Grande (1-16-1) ended the season with 14 consecutive losses.

Freshman Kaitlyn Schultz (Plain City, OH) played the first 45 minutes in goal for the RedStorm and posted two saves while fellow freshman Hannah Riffel (Circleville, OH) had her chance in the second half and stopped two shots.

Rio just couldn't muster any offense against the NAIA's top team.

Rio will have the off-season now to work toward improving for the 2010 season.
