WILMINGTON, Ohio - Senior Kayla Renner gave the University of Rio Grande women's cross country team its top individual showing in last Friday's Wilmington College Fall Classic.
Renner, a resident of Galloway, Ohio, placed 46th in the 340-runner field, completing the 5K course in a time of 19:50.    Only three other runners represented the RedStorm in the event, meaning that Rio did not post a team score. A total of 42 of schools had runners competing, with 33 of those posting team scores.
Junior Brittany Piccone (Crooksville, OH) topped the three remaining runners for URG, finishing 122nd in a time of 20:54, while junior Amy Lower (Lancaster, OH) was 131st with a time of 21:01 and senior Danielle Stockham (London, OH) was 317th after crossing the finish line in a mark of 25:27.
Sharon Ronoh of Lindsey Wilson College grabbed top individual honors with a time of 17:11.45, breaking the course record of 18:04.22 she'd set one year earlier.
Ashland won the team title with a score of 82, while Huntington, Ind. (109) and the University of Mount Union (143) rounded out the top three.
Rio Grande returns to action on Saturday, traveling to Berea for the Southeastern Classic.
