RIO GRANDE, Ohio - Perhaps, the chance to play at home will be just the tonic to cure what ails the University of Rio Grande women's soccer team.
Head coach Callum Morris' squad opens the home portion of its regular season schedule on Wednesday night when West Liberty State (W.Va.) University pays a visit to Evan E. Davis Field for a 5 p.m. kickoff.    The RedStorm have been shutout in each of their first two games, most recently a 1-0 setback at the hands of Union (Ky.) College on Saturday afternoon.
Rio Grande, which finds itself dealing with the injury bug early on, has managed just one shot on goal for the season thus far and only 10 shots overall.
The RedStorm trailed Davenport (Mich.) University, 1-0, in its season opener last Tuesday before giving up four scores in the final 7-1/2 minutes. On Saturday, Union's lone goal came with just under 13 minutes to play.
West Liberty brings a 1-1 record into the game after posting a 2-1 win over LaRoche College on Sunday. Head coach Barry Christmas' team dropped a 2-0 decision at the University of Pikeville in its season opener last Friday.
Freshman midfielder Sarah Evans has scored both of the Hilltoppers' goals, while freshman striker Kieana Palmer has been credited with one assist.
West Liberty has tallied 36 shots overall through its first two matches, 18 of which have been on goal.
Sophomore Rachel Coles and freshman Hannah Judkins have divided time in goal for the ‘Toppers, with Coles seeing the bulk of the action.
Coles has allowed a pair of goals and recorded five saves in just over 108 minutes of action, while Judkins has nine saves and one goal allowed.
Rio junior keeper Hannah Stickelman (Ontario, OH) has allowed all six opponents goals, but also has recorded 13 saves.
