RedStorm women fall short at Roberts

Rochester, Ny. --- It was a tough weekend for the University of Rio Grande RedStorm women's soccer team. After dropping a 3-1 decision on Friday to Houghton, Rio was shutout at Roberts Wesleyan by a 4-0 score on Saturday.

Rio Grande (1-12-1) just couldn't muster any offense as the RedStorm only managed to get off two shots in the game with one being on the target.

Roberts Wesleyan (7-6-3) scored a goal in the 10th minute to take a 1-0 lead and the score stayed that way until the second half when the Lady Raiders would score three more times en route to sending Rio Grande down to a 10th straight defeat.

Freshman goalkeeper Hannah Riffel (Circleville, OH), making her first collegiate start, was tested as Roberts had 23 shots for the game with 15 being on goal. She registered 11 saves for the contest.

Rio Grande will return home to face Shawnee State on Tuesday (October 27) at Evan Davis Field. Kick-off is set for 6 p.m.
